Former actor turned director, Kevin Hooks, made his mark in Hollywood at the tender age of twelve years old, when he was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for his performance in the critically acclaimed 1972 film 'Sounder'. The film was nominated for four Academy Awards, and was selected to the National Film Registry in 2021.

Among his other notable performances is that of Morris Thorpe on the ground breaking CBS series 'The White Shadow', in which he appeared from 1979-81. It was there that Hooks made the transition from acting to directing.

Over the next four decades, as one of television's most sought after director/producers, Hooks helmed episodes of some of television's most popular shows including ThisIsUs, PrisonBreak, Genius, Preacher, Castle Rock, Punisher, and The Good Lord Bird starring Ethan Hawke.

Among his feature credits is the 1992 box office hit 'Passenger 57' starring Wesley Snipes.

In 2000, Hooks was the recipient of  a Primetime Emmy Award as Producer/Director on The Color Of Friendship for the Disney Channel .

Now retired and living in Atlanta, Kevin has shifted his creative focus to his lifelong passion of photography, opening another exciting new chapter in his life. "Artistically, it's always very exciting to have the chance to view the world from a new perspective. It forces you to grow as an artist in unpredictable ways. Simply put, it pushes you out of your comfort zone, and personally, I find that very exhilarating."
